Jan Rot was a Dutch singer-songwriter who died in Rotterdam on Friday, April 22, 2022.

He was well-known in the Netherlands for his many song translations, both mainstream and classic.

According to a post on his Facebook page, the musician was diagnosed with colon cancer.

Even when he was diagnosed terminally sick, he maintained the same level of vigor for as long as he could

Rot did not only compose songs, but also books, editorials, and articles.

In 2020, his twelfth book, 121 of the finest songs, was released.

In it, he told the story behind songs like Summertime, White Christmas, and We’ll Meet Again.

He died at the age of 64

He however continued performing until his health deteriorated
