Wojciech Nawrocki sent a text message to the media from the village of Kowal informing them of Jan Nowicki’s death: “The late Jan Nowicki has passed away.” Jan Nowicki, a distinguished actor, playwright, and Honorary Citizen of the Town of Blacksmith, died suddenly tonight at the age of 83.”
In Kowal, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Poland, on November 5, 1939, Jan Nowicki was born. Before Twilight, Sztos, and Lava are only a few of his writings and acting credits.
He worked as an actor in Krakow’s Stary Theater for nearly 30 years, where he made his debut and portrayed hundreds of parts. His performances as Stawrogin in Possessed and Arthur in Tango are legendary in Polish theatre.
After a few years away, Jan Nowicki returned in 2008 with a role in Jacek Bawut’s “Not Evening Yet.” He has recently appeared in the films “Sztos 2” and “Show, Baby, What’s Inside.” He also appeared in various TV shows, such as “Magda M.” and “Appetite for Love.”
He and Anna Kondratowicz were wed in 2016. Malgorzata Potocka was the first woman he wed.
