James Shields (baseball) siblings: Meet Jason Shields and Jeremy Shields
Jason Shields and Jeremy Shields have been identified as his 2 older siblings. Jason happens to be his older brother. From reliable sources, Jeremy was born a year after Jason.
The Tampa Bay Devil Rays selected Shields in the sixteenth round of the amateur baseball draft in 2000.
Shields pitched well in his first year at the Class-A level in 2001, but he required major shoulder surgery that kept him out of action for the entire 2002 campaign. As a result, as he advanced through the Devil Rays’ farm system, he had to alter his pitching strategy and learn to throw a changeup because his fastball had lost some of its velocity.
