James L. Smith, an American music executive, promoter, and manager, was born on October 31, 1965.

He is Rap-A-CEO Lot’s co-founder, and the company is situated in Houston.

Smith and his son Jas are credited with helping Canadian rapper Drake sign with Young Money Entertainment in 2009 and for bringing Drake to Lil Wayne.

He has also worked as a manager for successful boxers including Shakur Stevenson, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Andre Ward.

One of the “godfathers of the rap music industry,” Prince also served as an inspiration for other southern hip-hop label heads, such as Birdman of Cash Money Records and Master P of No Limit Records.

He influenced the careers of artists like Scarface, Geto Boys, and Bun B.
