James Edward O’Keefe III, an American political activist, and provocateur was born on June 28, 1984.

He is the founder of Project Veritas, a far-right activist organization that utilizes deceptive editing methods to criticize mainstream media outlets and progressive organizations.

O’Keefe first gained widespread attention for his selectively edited videos of employees at Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) offices in 2009, his arrest and misdemeanor guilty plea for breaking into then-U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu’s (D-LA) federal office under pretenses in 2010, and the publication of deceptive videos of conversations with two senior, now-former NPR executives in 2011.

On Saturday, a spokesperson for the FBI said that officers had “conducted law enforcement action” at the structure, but he would not comment on the probe.

Mr. O’Keefe has an apartment in Mamaroneck, N.Y. Meads, a longstanding Project Veritas employee. O’Keefe’s confidant has been in the Midtown Manhattan apartment on 35th street that the FBI searched since 2019.
