McAvoy

McAvoy was born in Glasgow on April 21, 1979, to mental nurse Elizabeth (née Johnstone; died in 2018) and bus driver-turned-builder James McAvoy Sr. He had a Roman Catholic upbringing.

His feature film career began in 2003 after he made his acting debut as a teenager in The Near Room (1995). Prior to that, he mainly performed on television.

His major television credits include the suspenseful State of Play, the science fiction miniseries Children of Dune by Frank Herbert, and the BAFTA Award-winning sitcom Shameless on channel 4. (British TV series)

He started working in film during the early 2000s and made cameos in television programs. Director Joe Wright began offering McAvoy parts in his films after being so impressed by the actor’s portrayal of a gay hustler in the play, Out in the Open in 2001.

He appeared in Wimbledon, a 2004 romantic comedy starring Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany. His subsequent task was providing the voice for Hal in the mythical fantasy movie Strings’ 2004 English translation.

James McAvoy’s Grandparents

James’ parents separated when he was seven and divorced when he was eleven. McAvoy was taken to live with his maternal grandparents, Mary and James Johnstone, in the adjacent Drumchapel neighborhood of Glasgow because his mother was ill.

His mother occasionally resided with them. Joy, a younger sister, and Donald, a younger half-brother, are McAvoy’s siblings.
