Hanson, a four-star recruit, chose Oregon over offers from California, Oregon State, Utah, and Washington State, among others. Hanson has made 49 career starts, missing one in 2018 due to a targeting penalty the week before and two in 2019 due to a concussion. During his first three seasons, he did not allow a sack. Hanson was named to the Pac-12 second team twice. During his senior year, he allowed two sacks and four quarterback hits while anchoring Oregon’s Joe Moore Award-winning offensive line.
Hanson was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the 208th overall pick. He was signed on July 10, 2020. During training camp, Hanson had to adjust to working with a quarterback under center rather than shotgun or pistol formations. On September 5, 2020,[9] he was waived and signed to the practice squad the next day. On October 13, he was placed on the practice squad/injured list. Hanson signed a reserve/futures contract with the Packers on January 26, 2021. On April 18, 2022, he accepted the Packers’ tender offer to remain with the team.
