On January 14, 1999, Jaelon Darden, a wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League, was born. He participated in collegiate football at North Texas.
Darden attended Eisenhower High School in Houston, Texas. He was a quarterback on the 2015 All-District team. He was a 3-star wide receiver when he received his high school diploma. He made a commitment to play collegiate football for the University of North Texas on February 1, 2017.
He set a school record with 230 receptions for 2,782 yards and 38 touchdowns throughout the course of his career. He recorded 74 receptions for 1,190 yards and 19 touchdowns as a senior in 2020, and ESPN and USA Today selected him as the Conference USA MVP and an All-American. He was also a potential winner of the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award. He signed a four-year rookie contract with Tampa Bay on May 19, 2021.
