American businessman and politician John William “Jack” Carter lost the general election against John Ensign in 2006 when running for the US Senate in Nevada.
His parents are former President Jimmy Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter. He is their oldest child.

Jack Carter was born on His birthday is July 3, 1947, at the Portsmouth Naval Medical Hospital in Virginia.
He was raised in Plains, Georgia, and worked through the winters at his father’s warehouse for the peanut plantation, where he was paid just 10 cents an hour.
After enrolling in Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, and Georgia Southwestern State University in 1965, Carter struggled and was persuaded by his father to enlist in the United States Navy in April 1968.
Carter served on the salvage vessel USS Grapple during the Vietnam War (ARS-7).
When he and 53 of his classmates were busted consuming marijuana at the Navy Reactors Facility in Idaho Falls, Idaho, in late 1970, he was given a general discharge with a “less than honorable” discharge.

Carter attended Georgia Tech once more and graduated with a degree in nuclear physics.
After graduating, he immediately entered the University of Georgia School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctor in 1975.
