Political figure Jacinda Ardern, who was born in New Zealand on July 26, 1980, has been the Labour Party’s leader since 2017 and the country’s 40th prime minister. She is an activist for the Labour Party and has served as the Mount Albert MP since 2017.

Ardern declared on January 19, 2023, that she would vacate her positions as prime minister and leader of Labour by February 7, awaiting a leadership election. Ardern was raised in Murupara and Morrinsville after being born in Hamilton.

When she was 17 years old, she joined the Labour Party. Ardern worked as a researcher in Prime Minister Helen Clark’s office following her 2001 University of Waikato graduation.

Jacinda Ardern, the prime minister of New Zealand, announced on Sunday, three days after her daughter was born, that she has named her first child Neve Te Aroha Ardern Gayford.

The leader of the center-left Labour Party and the first head of state to give birth in over three decades, Ms. Ardern, will take six weeks off before going back to work.
