J.J. Spaun once earned a third-team All-American in 2011 and a second-team All-American in 2012, with three consecutive individuals, wins his senior year. Spaun studied social science at SDSU and began working professionally in 2012.

The rest is history however he has been hit with medical setbacks over the years.

Spaun began to lose weight abruptly as his 2017-18 season came to a close, and he frequently felt tired. His swing speed and driving distance began to deteriorate as well.

He was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in the autumn of 2018, or so physicians assumed.

In 2008, he graduated from San Dimas High School. He attended San Diego State University, where he was a two-time All-Mountain West Conference pick in 2010 and 2011, as well as the Conference Player of the Year in 2012.

After winning the News Sentinel Open, Spaun secured his PGA Tour spot for 2017. After 147 PGA Tour appearances, he won his first PGA Tour title at the 2022 Valero Texas Open.
