The Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has made it clear that he has no interest in running alongside Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the December elections.
Even though Bawumia hasn’t revealed his running partner yet, Mr. Agyapong made it clear on Friday, February 23, during an appearance on the KSM Show on Pan African Television in Accra that he would much rather stay behind and continue to contribute rather than take on the role of vice president with Dr. Bawumia.
“I don’t want to be vice. What am I going to say. I believe in democracy so, I want it to work. I will stay back and watch and whatever I have to do, I will do to contribute,” he stated.
“But I won’t accept vice as if at all cost Kennedy Agyapong has to be among the leaders. One thing I have always said is that you don’t need to be president to effect change in people’s lives.
“I have businesses that have employed many Ghanaians and put food on their table and it’s self-gratifying,” Agyapong
Mr. Agyapong explained his decision not to run for vice president by pointing out that he has a tendency to express his opinions, which he feels could be a liability to his boss.
“To tell you the truth, I cannot be vice president because I will speak my mind and I will not be a mate. In Ghana, you will be branded if you speak your mind,” he said bluntly.
