The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has raised concerns about the transparency of the Electoral Commission (EC) regarding the missing laptops and BVR kits.
Asiedu Nketia insisted that the EC needs to provide answers and be more open about the issue.
During an interview with JoyNews, Asiedu Nketia emphasized that the demands of the NDC are reasonable and focused on ensuring transparency. He pointed out the extensive security measures in place at the EC, including CCTV surveillance, military and police presence, and armoured vehicles, yet some equipment still went missing.
Asiedu Nketia called on the EC to disclose the missing items and their serial numbers to the public to ensure accountability. He highlighted the conflicting accounts provided by the EC on the issue and urged them to be more forthcoming with information.
The NDC Chairman expressed disappointment in the EC’s handling of the situation, stating that if the equipment had gone missing, the public should have been informed immediately. He called for clarity on the identity of the missing equipment and urged the EC to address the issue promptly.
