The Executive Director of the Institute for Energy Security (IES), Nana Amoasi VII, has surged for the immediate removal of Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh from office, citing a worsening energy crisis in the country.

In light of the current state of the energy sector, the IES is backing calls for the dismissal of the minister, as they believe swift action is necessary to address the situation.

During an interview on Citi FM, the energy expert expressed disappointment with the minister’s handling of the ongoing power crisis, highlighting what he perceives as a lack of proactive measures.

He also questioned the minister’s commitment to the job, pointing out his apparent disconnect from the reality of the energy challenges facing the nation.

“With the current electricity supply situation, what purpose does the minister serve? It is time for him to step aside, perhaps to pursue other interests,” Nana Amoasi VII remarked.

“He should be relieved of his duties. The situation has become unbearable. Is it too much to ask?” he added.

The energy expert emphasized the importance of effective communication from utility providers to consumers, noting that transparency is key in managing customer expectations.

As the country grapples with power challenges, stakeholders are calling for decisive action to address the energy crisis and ensure stability in the sector.
