President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that former President John Dramani Mahama’s skepticism over the veracity of the WASSCE results submitted by Ghanaian students was regrettable and misplaced.
In a lot of countries, kids are allowed to cheat. You visit areas where the teachers are collaborating with the pupils to engage in cheating. During one of his “Building Ghana Tours,” Mr. Mahama stated, “The effect will be seen later.”
In a reply, President Akufo-Addo told the audience at the 187th speech and prize-giving day of Wesley Girls’ High School in Cape Coast that, “Contrary to the usual experience, the large excess and improved quality have gone hand in hand.” Long may it continue.”
“It is a pity though” , he went on to say, “that the sad nature of aspects of contemporary Ghanaian politics drove some otherwise allegedly responsible people including your former president and current NDC presidential candidate to question the integrity of the results happily without any foundation and to attribute these results to cheating,” the former president complained.
He then asked, “Wesley Girls’ High School students, do you cheat in exams?” to which they shouted, “No!”
“This loud noise will send a strong message to those who expressed these unfortunate, misguided sentiments,” stated the president.
Nana Akufo-Addo believed that the WASSCE scores of the students who she proudly referred to as “Akufo-Addo graduates” demonstrated that rather than declining, educational quality had actually increased dramatically.
The only Akufo-Addo graduation results from the last ten years that demonstrate that more than 50% of applicants received A1 to C6 in every core subject are those from 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
