Italian model Bernardo Marziani tragically passed away at the young age of 20 after a courageous two-year battle with Ewing sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.
Marziani, who shared his cancer journey with his followers on social media, was diagnosed with the disease in 2022, with the tumour located in his left leg causing excruciating pain.
Despite undergoing chemotherapy and preparing for surgery, Marziani developed metastases just before the operation, leading to a change in treatment as the disease became chronic.
Ewing sarcoma typically affects individuals between the ages of 10 and 20, with common areas of development being the pelvic bone, thigh bone, and shin bone.
Marziani shared valuable advice with his followers, such as using a cold cap during chemotherapy to reduce hair loss, and openly discussed his own symptoms and struggles.
The son of journalist Elena Martelli and art critic Gianluca Marziani, Bernardo split his time between Rome and Amsterdam, where he was studying anthropology.
His health deteriorated in January, when a pleural effusion caused by the tumour’s progression to his lung resulted in hospitalization.
