Former Asante Kotoko striker Shilla Alhassan has weighed in on the current struggles of the Ghanaian giants, suggesting that under-fire coach Prosper Narteh Ogum should consider stepping down from his role as head coach.

The Porcupine Warriors have had a tough season in the domestic league, currently sitting in 11th place with only one league victory in 2024. With six defeats in their last seven games, pressure has been mounting on Ogum, leading to fans disrupting training sessions and demanding his dismissal.

Alhassan, speaking on Kessben FM, expressed his opinion on the matter, stating, “I think it will be prudent for Ogum to resign because things are not going as expected. If I were Ogum, I would have resign from my role. I remember he did same when he led the club to win the league title, so if things are not going well this time, he should do same and call it a quit.”

The situation has become so dire that the Life Patron of Asante Kotoko, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called for an emergency meeting to address the struggles of the club. The meeting is set to take place on Thursday, April 19, 2024, with players and the Interim Management Committee in attendance.

As the Porcupine Warriors prepare to face log leaders Samartex in their upcoming match, all eyes will be on the outcome of the meeting and whether changes will be made to turn the team’s fortunes around.
