Islam Slimani is an Algerian professional footballer who currently plays as a forward for Sporting CP and the Algeria national team in the Primeira Liga. With 39 goals, he is Algeria’s all-time leading scorer.
Slimani began his career in his home country with JSM Chéraga and CR Belouizdad. In 2013, he moved to Europe and signed with Sporting CP.
He played and scored frequently during his three years in Portugal, helping his team win the Taça de Portugal in 2015.
Slimani was traded to Leicester for a club-record fee of £28 million in 2016.
After his time at Leicester, he moved on to Olympique Lyonnais.
