Born on February 6, 1945, as Robert Nesta Marley, a Jamaican musician, singer, and songwriter, he was christened Berhane Selassie in 1980.

In addition to having a distinctive voice and songwriting approach, his musical career was defined by the confluence of reggae, ska, and rocksteady. He is regarded as one of reggae’s founding fathers.

Alpharita Constantia “Rita” Anderson and Bob Marley exchanged vows on February 10, 1966, in Kingston, Jamaica. Marley had several more children with other women in addition to the two that were adopted from Rita’s previous marriages and the four that were born to his wife Rita.
