When Deripaska was 25, he teamed up with fellow physicists, engineers, and rocket scientists. He set up his first metal trading company named VTK.
In 1994, at the age of 26, he became the director-general of the Sayanogorsk aluminum smelter in the Southern Siberia plant.
Three years later in 1997, he founded Sibirsky (Siberian) Aluminium Group. The company, in 2000, merged with Millhouse Capital, Roman Abramovich’s company to create RUSAL.
In the same year 1997, he also founded Basic Element a diversified investment group. The company manages investments in these sectors: energy, metals and mining, machinery, financial services, agriculture, construction, and aviation.
En+ Group is a green energy and metals company. It was formed in 2006, with Deripaska being placed as its president and controlling shareholder.
