Following the death of country music icon Naomi Judd, who was set to be inducted with her daughter Wynonna as The Judds, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum will continue with its medallion ceremony on Sunday, May 1st in Nashville.
Wynonna Judd is expected to attend the induction ceremony, according to a Country Music Hall of Fame representative.
Kyle Young, CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, said in a statement to Billboard that the Judd family requested that the ceremony goes on despite Naomi’s death.
“We are shocked and saddened to learn of Naomi Judd’s death, who will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame tomorrow as a member of the Judds, a mother-daughter duo.”
Is Naomi Judd a Country Music Hall Of Famer?
Today’s tragic news is overshadowed by her triumphant life story.
The Judds’ official Hall of Fame induction is set for Sunday, and her family has requested that we continue with it.
With heavy hearts and heavy minds, we will do so. “The music of Naomi and her daughter Wynonna will live on,” Young said in a statement.
Eddie Bayers, Ray Charles, and Pete Drake are among the other inductees.
The public red carpet arrivals have been canceled.
