Michael R. Pence was one of six children born to Edward and Nancy Pence on June 7, 1959, in Columbus, Indiana. He was first in line to experience the American Dream as a young boy. After his granddad moved to the US when he was 17, his family got comfortable in the Midwest. The future Vice President watched as his parents established a successful business, a family, and a good name. He was taught the value of family, faith, and hard work while sitting at his parents’ feet as they started a successful convenience store in their small Indiana town.

VP Pence set out for Hanover School, acquiring his four-year certification in history in 1981. He rekindled his Christian faith while he was there, which is still the driving force behind his life. He went on to study law at Indiana University, where he met Second Lady Karen Pence, the love of his life.
