Mike Bossy is said to have passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the age of 65 after battling lung cancer.
In October 2021, Mike Bossy revealed that he has been diagnosed with lung cancer and was battling for his life.
He was a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played his entire National Hockey League career for the New York Islanders and was said to be one of hockey’s most prolific goal-scorers and a star for the New York Islanders during their 1980s dynasty.
He played in line with Bryan Trottier and Clark Gillies at the center and left wings respectively with himself at the right-wing but retired in 1987 at the age of 30 years due to chronic back issues.
He was born on January 22, 1957, in Montreal, to his parents Borden Bossy, and Dorothy Mills Bossy.
He was from a family of 10 siblings and happens to be the fifth son among the 10 children of his parents.

He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1991, four years after he retired from NHL due to chronic back issues and his No. 22 was retired by the team in 1992.
In 2017 he was named one of the “100 Greatest NHL Players” in history.
