Mia Sarapochiello, better known by her stage name Mia Sara, is an American actress who was born on June 19, 1967. She made her acting debut in 1985 as Princess Lili in the fantasy film Legend, and she got her big break in 1986 as Sloane Peterson in the comedy film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Additionally, for her performance as Melissa Walker in the 1994 science fiction film Timecop, she won the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Sara was born under the name Mia Sarapochiello in Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn, New York. Her parents are Jerome Sarapochiello, an artist and photographer, and Diana Sarapochiello, a stylist. The family practices Roman Catholicism and is of Italian descent. She attended St. Ann’s School in Brooklyn.

Sara made her acting debut alongside Tom Cruise in the 1985 fairy tale film Legend, directed by Ridley Scott. She became much more well-known by playing Sloane Peterson, Ferris Bueller’s better half, in the blockbuster 1986 film Ferris Bueller’s Free Day.
