Matt Harvey is currently making airwaves for all the supposed wrong reasons.
He was barred from participating in 60 games after admitting to giving drugs to Tyler Skaggs. The Baltimore Orioles pitcher was suspended without pay for 60 days for violating Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Is Matt Harvey still in the major leagues?
According to sources, he is currently suspended and can only train on the field of play but cannot plan any competitive games for his team.
Harvey was cited by the MLB commissioner’s office on Tuesday(May 17) for participating in the distribution of a prohibited Drug of Abuse.
Why was Matt Harvey suspended?
The sentence, which is retroactive to April 29, comes several months after Harvey testified in federal court that he provided oxycodone to former Los Angeles Angels teammate Tyler Skaggs.
Skaggs, a fellow pitcher, was discovered dead in a Texas hotel room near where the Angels were scheduled to play the host Rangers three years ago. Officials later determined that he choked on his own vomit while high on opioids, including oxycodone and fentanyl, and alcohol.
