Marilyn Bergman, one of America’s iconic lyricists and songwriters, is known for contributing immensely to The Bergman group.
Marilyn was half of the famous husband-wife duo who teamed with husband Alan Bergman on the hit singles, The Way We Were, and How Do You Keep the Music Playing?, among others.
She was part of the success story of the Oscar-winning duo who produced hundreds of chart-topping songs.
The Bergmans, who married in 1958, were among the most enduring, successful and productive songwriting partnerships, specializing in introspective ballades for film, television and the stage that combined the romance of Tin Pan Alley with the polish of contemporary pop.
Her death took the world by surprise.
American singer Barbra Streisand tweeted: “Marilyn and Alan Bergman were like family, as well as brilliant lyricists. We met over 60 years ago backstage at a little nightclub, and never stopped loving each other and working together. Their songs are timeless, and so is our love. May she rest in peace. With love, Barbra.”
American record producer Quincy Jones tweeted: My dear, dear, beautiful Marilyn Bergman, to lose you this morning, so close to our brother Sidney, is just crushing me. She is survived by her husband Bergman and their daughter, Julie Bergman.

Marilyn Bergman is no more. She died on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at her Los Angeles home at the age of 93.
She died of respiratory failure not related to Covid-19 – Marilyn Bergman’s representative Jason Lee disclosed. Her husband was at her bedside when she died, the AP reports.
