Lily Rose Beatrice Allen is an English actress and singer-songwriter who was born on May 2, 1985. She is the daughter of film producer Alison Owen and actor Keith Allen.

In 2005, she launched her music career by making some of her vocal recordings available to the public on Myspace. The exposure she received led to airplay on BBC Radio 1 and a contract with Regal Recordings. In July 2006, her first mainstream single, “Smile,” reached the top spot on the UK Singles Chart. Alright, Still, Allen’s debut album, was well received, selling more than 2.6 million copies worldwide and earning her nominations for the Grammy, Brit, and MTV Video Music Awards.

The daughter of actor Keith Allen, who was born in Wales, and British film producer Alison Owen, Allen was born on May 2, 1985, in Hammersmith, West London. Sarah is her older sister; an older brother who is an actor and is the subject of her song “Alfie”; and Rebecca, a younger sister. Lily Allen’s mother was 17 when she gave birth to Sarah and came from a Portsmouth working-class Catholic family. Allen is Sam Smith’s third cousin and the goddaughter of Wild Colonials vocalist Angela McCluskey.
