Julio Jones, full name Quintorris Lopez “Julio” Jones Jr, was born in Foley, Alabama on February 8, 1989, and is now a free agent. His mother, Queen Marvin, raised him and his brother alone after his father abandoned him when he was five years old.
Jones played high school football for the Lions while attending Foley High School in Foley, Alabama. Jones rose to popularity fast throughout his high school career. He attended Alabama and was taken by the Atlanta Falcons in the first round (6th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft. He is widely recognized as one of the best receivers of the decade.
He recorded 75 receptions for 1,306 yards and 16 touchdowns his junior year. He earned the moniker “Waffle House” because he was constantly open. He participated in the Under Armour All-America Game in high school.
Jones chose to forego his senior year on January 7, 2011. Instead, he opted to enter the NFL Draft alongside teammates Mark Ingram, Greg McElroy, and Marcell Dareus. Jones was later invited to compete in ESPN’s “All-Star Football Challenge,” which aired on February 4th. Despite having a broken foot, he had the longest long jump and third-fastest 40-yard dash among wide receivers at the 2011 NFL Combine.
Is Julio Jones a Hall of Famer?
Julio Jones has not yet been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. On Tuesday, the Eagles added seven-time Pro Bowler Julio Jones, bringing a future Hall of Famer to their receiving corps. Jones, 34, is no longer the spectacular receiver he once was, but he should contribute to the Eagles’ receiving depth for the rest of the 2023 season.
