1970 saw the birth of Jules in Colchester. At E.H. Bentall & Co., a business that made agricultural machinery, his father Cliff worked as a mechanical engineer and technical director. Over the course of 40 years, his mother Pam operated a bed & breakfast there. In his opinion, “growing up in a home where there were many of various faces from across the world gave me the courage to engage with others, to talk and listen to them. As a weekday boarder, he first went to Ipswich High School and later Colchester Boys High School. Early on in his life, he became interested in archaeology. He only wanted a visit of the Roman vaults under Colchester Castle for his seventh birthday.
After graduating from high school, he began working for The Colchester Archaeological Trust, where he discovered his love of field archaeology and the science of excavation.
The host has previously shared information regarding his military career. At age 23, after getting a degree in Field Archaeology, he underwent officer training at Sandhurst, the same institution where Prince Harry had his military training.
Is Jules Hudson still in the army?
No, later, he made the decision to leave the army and seek a career in television instead of continuing his military service. The Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers, however, commissioned him into the British Army after 10 years.
