Fonda married in 1991, when she was in her early fifties. She’d previously married French director Roger Vadim and politician Tom Hayden.
Turner remembers relentlessly chasing Fonda in his 2008 memoir, “Call Me Ted,” and says that he cared profoundly about her, but he also confesses that they often had “difficulty communicating” since they spent so much time apart (via Today).
Fonda, on the other hand, portrayed a different picture, telling The New Yorker in 2001 that their views on “togetherness” varied.
Fonda now speaks favorably about Turner, referring to him on her personal website as her “favorite ex-husband.” But, more importantly, she’s found happiness in her single status.
Turner, who owns almost two million acres and is one of America’s greatest individual landowners, gave Fonda a 2,500-acre ranch as well as approximately $100 million in assets and stock in his broadcasting firm.
