When Glenn Danzig was a young child, he took piano and clarinet lessons, which was his first exposure to playing music. Later, he learned to play the guitar on his own. At the age of 11, Danzig began his career in the music industry by working as a drum roadie and subsequently joining neighborhood garage bands.
The local scene took notice of him even though he had never attended vocal instruction. He performed as a singer for various neighborhood bands throughout his adolescence, including Talus and Koo-Dot-N-Boo-Jang, the majority of which featured a mix of original music and Black Sabbath tunes.
