In 1956 during his time in high school in Torrance, California, Norris met Dianne Kay Holechek, who is one year his junior. The couple hit it off and soon got married in December 1958 when he was 18 and Dianne was 17 years old.
Four years after their marriage, the couple welcomed their first son, actor Mike Norris. In 1963, Norris was involved in an extramarital affair which resulted in the birth of a daughter named Dina.
A year later, he welcomed a son, Eric Norris, with his wife. Eric is a former stock car racing driver and stuntman who won the 2002 NASCAR Winston West Series Championship. In addition to racing, he also directed several episodes of the TV-series Walker and Texas Ranger.
