Former Brazilian professional footballer Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known by his stage as Pelé (Portuguese pronunciation:), was a forward who was born on October 23, 1940.

He was among the most prosperous and well-known athletes of the 20th century, and he is regarded as one of the all-time great players and FIFA’s “the greatest.” He was named the International Olympic Committee’s Athlete of the Century in 1999, and Time named him one of the 100 most influential individuals of the 20th century.

Is Edinho still incarcerated? What happened to Pele’s son?

The 43-year-old, who is also a retired football player, will serve his term for laundering proceeds from drug trafficking.

In addition to having connections with a well-known drug dealer in the city of Santos, Edinho was initially detained in 2005 and has since completed a sentence for drug trafficking offenses.
In the 1990s, Pele’s son, Santos, was a goalie for his father’s previous team.

Edinho, who is currently employed by Santos as a goalkeeping coach, apparently admits to being a drug user but disputes the charges of trafficking that have been brought against him.

Edinho, whose true name is Edson Cholbi do Nascimento, has been inaccessible to Brazilian media. He will likely file an appeal.

Pele’s third child from his first marriage, Edinho, was only five years old when the family relocated to New York while his father was playing with the Cosmos.

When Santos made it to the Brazilian league final in 1995 and lost to Botafogo, he was the goalie for the squad.
