The Dori Monson Show, an afternoon discussion radio program in Seattle, Washington, on KIRO-FM, was hosted by American radio personality Dori Monson.
Monson, who had Icelandic ancestry, was brought up in Ballard, a neighborhood with a large Scandinavian population in Seattle.
His high school diploma is from Ballard. He worked as the play-by-play announcer for the Husky football on-campus broadcaster KCMU as a student at the University of Washington.
When the Pat Cashman Show switched stations in 1994, Monson moved to KIRO-FM 100.7 after being introduced to King Broadcasting owner Dorothy Bullitt by veteran Seattle broadcaster Bill O’Mara.
Monson started his professional broadcasting career as a sports producer at KING-TV and a sports reporter and host at KING AM.
Is Dori Monson a conservative?
According to KIRO Newsradio, Dori Monson, a longtime conservative radio presenter from “the gritty neighborhoods of Ballard,” passed away Saturday night in a Seattle hospital. He was 61.
Every day, Monson hosted his popular three-hour program while also contributing for many years to local sports and the Seahawks radio broadcast crew.
He was referred to as a “longtime watchdog of social and political issues” by KIRO Newsradio, which also stated that the station is preparing to arrange on-air tributes.
Monson experienced a “cardiac incident” at home on Thursday, according to a written statement from Bonneville International, which owns KIRO-FM. Monson was taken to the hospital.
