Christopher Dean is an English Ice dancer or skater and choreographer who is best remembered for earning a gold medal with his ice skating partner, Jayne Torvill, at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics.
Christopher began skating at the age of 10 but subsequently became a policeman. In 1975, he began dating Jayne. The pair won the British national championship and received sponsorship in 1978.
Following this, both of them quit their employment to devote their time to ice skating. At the Sarajevo Winter Olympics in 1984, the couple known as “Torvill and Dean” won the gold medal and received a flawless 6.0 from all of the judges for artistic impression. They took bronze at the Lillehammer Winter Olympics in 1994.
Following that, Christopher performed in and coordinated other performances, including Ice Adventures. Jayne and Christopher both withdrew from competitive ice skating in 1998. They did, however, reconnect in 2006 on the show Dancing on Ice. Christopher and Jayne have earned several awards, including the MBE and the OBE.
