Caetano Emanuel Viana Teles Veloso was born on August 7, 1942, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is a composer, singer, guitarist, writer, and political activist. Veloso rose to fame in the 1960s as a member of Tropicalismo, a Brazilian musical movement that incorporated theater, poetry, and music.

This was at the beginning of the Brazilian military dictatorship, which took power in 1964. He has remained a continuous creative influence, as well as a best-selling performing artist and composer, since then.

Veloso has won nine Latin Grammy Awards and two Grammy Awards. On November 14, 2012, Veloso was named Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year.

Veloso is one of the few public atheist celebrities in Brazil. He was raised in a pious Catholic home but abandoned the faith as a child. In an interview, Veloso stated that he does not want to “lie to his own intelligence” by believing in God.

In a subsequent interview, Veloso provoked anger by stating that the majority of Brazilians would be better off becoming irreligious or atheists.

Caetano married twice. His wives include Paula Lavigne and Dedé Gadelha.

Paula Mafra Lavigne born March 31, 1969, in Rio de Janeiro is a former Brazilian actress, producer, and businesswoman.

From 1986 through 2004, she was married to Brazilian musician and composer Caetano Veloso, with whom she had two children.

They rekindled their romance in 2016, this time in the shape of a steady union.

For Dedé Gadelha, not much has been recorded about her but we have in our records that she was born in 1948 and is currently 75 years old.
