Etheridge, the American singer, songwriter, and guitarist was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, the younger of two daughters of computer consultant Elizabeth (Williamson) and John Etheridge, a Leavenworth High School American Constitution teacher. She is 61 years old.
Etheridge took up the guitar at age eight. She began playing in local country music bands when she was a teenager and received her high school diploma in 1979.
Etheridge performed at Boston clubs while she was a student at Berklee College of Music. Etheridge made the decision to leave Berklee after three semesters and move to Los Angeles in order to pursue a career in music.
