Is Albert Pujols black?
Albert Pujols was born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, as the only child of Bienvenido Pujols. Like his son, his father is a sportsman and played as a softball pitcher.
Pujols was raised mostly by his grandmother, America Pujols, and 10 of his uncles and aunts. Though he was a terrific softball player, his father Bienvenido struggled with alcoholism.
He often had to take his father home when he got drunk following games. This happened when he was 10 years old, however, it doesn’t haunt him.
In 1996, he, along with his father and grandmother immigrated to Washington Heights in New York City. Two months later, they moved to Independence, Missouri to join some relatives due to a shooting Pujols witnessed.
