Senior was raised in Sheffield, where he was born.
He founded the Dada Society (also known as the New Wave Society) and played the lead part in a dramatic rendition of Kafka’s The Trial while attending Bath University.
Also, he was in a band called The Bath Bankers and arranged for his Sheffield pals Pulp to perform at the university.
Having graduated with a 2.1 in Business Administration, he returned to Sheffield to join Pulp.
He was a flying picket during the 1984 miners’ strike, participating in industrial action such as the Battle of Orgreave.
