The District Director of the Ghana Health Service, Eugene Osei Yeboah, states that the Tempane District in Ghana has experienced severe difficulties in providing healthcare as a result of infrastructure deficiencies.
In an interview, Mr. Yeboah disclosed that the district has seen poor infrastructure in recent years, which has made it challenging to go to medical facilities.
Because there aren’t many hospitals close by, a lot of expectant mothers have had to give birth at home.
Mr. Yeboah however point out that there has been some progress in resolving the infrastructural issues with partners’ help.
Notwithstanding these developments, he stressed that additional assistance is required to completely address the outstanding issues.
Mr. Yeboah emphasized the need for ongoing support from partners during the Tempane end-of-year assessment, pointing out that certain Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds are still operating in subpar conditions—some even under trees.
Furthermore, Mr. Yeboah voiced his concerns regarding the low vaccination rates in the region, stressing the significance of resolving this issue to protect the community’s health and well-being.
The revelation of these infrastructure problems highlights the necessity of continual efforts to improve healthcare service in the Tempane District as well as the vital role that collaborations play in successfully resolving these problems.
