Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, Shri Manish Gupta, is advocating for government support to enhance e-learning initiatives in Ghana. He emphasizes that providing the necessary resources will lead to the economic transformation of the country.
Speaking virtually at the 2024 E-Learning Week organized by the KNUST E-Learning Centre in Kumasi, Gupta stressed the importance of infrastructure, funding, and regulation to drive progress in e-learning.
The Ambassador of Israel to Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, Shlomit Sufa, expressed optimism about partnering with Ghana to boost the country’s e-learning landscape. She believes that collaboration between the two countries can address challenges in e-learning and empower the next generation for socio-economic development.
Additionally, Dr. Diane Bramie, the Scientific Cooperation Attaché at the French Embassy, highlighted France’s role in enhancing Ghana’s online learning activities through various initiatives. She emphasized the importance of capacity building for teachers to effectively drive online learning in Ghana.
The E-Learning Week features workshops, quiz competitions, and talks by notable speakers like Ghanaian vlogger Kwadwo Sheldon. It also provides opportunities for Teaching Assistants, Postgraduates, and the Delegation from the Association of Commonwealth Universities to explore and discuss the benefits of digital education for students and service persons.
The Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Prof Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to prioritizing digital literacy for all students and staff, ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital era.
The week will culminate in the 2024 E-learning International Conference, celebrating excellence in digital teaching and learning and providing a platform to share best practices and innovative ideas in digital education.
