The Police Department in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa have been involved in the fatal shooting of a man who came at them with a sharp metal instrument on Monday.
Per Mesa Police Representative, Sgt. Chuck Trapani, the incident occurred after a resident phoned officers about 7:30 a.m. to report that someone they didn’t know had hopped a fence into their home.
As cops gathered in the front yard, authorities claimed that a 49-year-old Mesa resident James Schild jumped from the back yard, carrying a big frame square.
Officers ordered Schild to drop the object and deployed a stun gun and bean bag rounds to make him comply. Schild allegedly jumped back up after being hit and rushed at cops as they attempted to apprehend him.
According to authorities, at least one cop opened fire, and Schild was pronounced dead at the scene. No policemen were hurt.
