In the coup conspirators case, three people have been found not guilty. Two senior security guards and an additional soldier were found not guilty.

The three-member panel of the Accra High Court later found them not guilty. Colonel Samuel Kodzo Gameli and Dr. Benjamin Agordzo, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), are the two of them. They were acquitted of aiding and abetting High Treason.

Corporal Seidu Abubakar, the third individual, was likewise found not guilty of high treason plot and treason.

ACP Dr. Agordzo and Col. Gameli have entered not-guilty pleas for high treason abetment, while the remaining individuals have entered not-guilty pleas for high treason and high treason conspiracy.

According to the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), Section 180, high treason carries a death sentence. The bond amount for the two top security personnel is GH¢1 million, with the remaining GH¢2 million.

Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, Hafisata Amaleboba, and Stephen Oppong, all Justices of the Court of Appeal serving as extra High Court justices, comprise the three-member panel hearing the case. On April 24, 2021, the accused were brought before the court.

During the brief fact-finding hearing on April 24, the Attorney-General (AG) revealed to the court that the defendants were members of Take Action Ghana (TAG) and had planned to hold protests to overthrow the government.

He stated that to produce 22 explosives, six rounds of ammunition, and five handguns, the accused got in touch with a blacksmith in the Volta Region’s Alavanyo in July 2019.

The maker allegedly charged the accused accomplices GH¢2,300 for each weapon and GH¢400.00 for each explosive, according to testimony given in court.

He added that following test firings at the Teshie Military shooting range on September 19, Dr. Mac-Palm (who has since passed away) and Kafui were taken into custody.
