An interim Management Committee (IMC) set up by the Accra High Court of Justice is facing challenges in carrying out its duties at Adamus Resources Ltd.
The IMC, established on July 27, 2023, was recently barred from entering the company’s headquarters in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region by security personnel and police officers.
Despite attempts to familiarize themselves with the company’s operations and engage with workers, the Committee has been met with resistance. Isaac Ackon, a member of the IMC, expressed frustration over being prevented from accessing the site, citing orders from unknown sources hindering their mandate.
The IMC had previously been blocked from the Head Office in Accra on March 25, prompting their visit to the Western Regional Police headquarters for assistance. However, the police detachment present was unable to facilitate their entry.
Moving forward, Ackon emphasized the IMC’s intention to seek guidance from their legal team and reiterated their commitment to implementing the court’s directives without confrontation. The IMC was established following legal disputes surrounding the acquisition of Adamus Mining by Nguvu Mining Limited, leading to a court order appointing a five-member committee to oversee the company’s management.
While the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and Adamus Australia have appointed their representatives to the IMC, Nguvu Mining has yet to finalize its appointments, challenging the legitimacy of meetings called by other members. After Nguvu Mining failed to appoint a representative by the court-mandated deadline, they forfeited their right to appoint a committee member.
Despite these challenges, the IMC remains focused on upholding the court’s decision and ensuring the smooth operation of Adamus Resources Ltd.
