Ghanaian international Andre Ayew is celebrating after scoring his first goal at the Stade Océane to help Le Havre secure a crucial victory over Strasbourg in the French Ligue 1.
Ayew, who has been in fine form recently, found the back of the net for the second game in a row to lift Le Havre out of the relegation zone with a 3-1 win over Strasbourg on Saturday.
The experienced forward scored late in the game to secure the victory and extend the gap between Le Havre and the relegation places to three points.
Following the match, Ayew took to social media to express his happiness at scoring at home for the first time since joining the club in November 2023.
In an Instagram post, Ayew wrote, “+3. Beautiful atmosphere in our stadium and big game made by the whole team. Happy to have scored my 1st goal in our stadium in front of our audience. Congratulations little brother @yassine.kechta.”
Midfielder Yassine Kechta opened the scoring for Le Havre in the 24th minute before adding his second goal after the break. Despite a late goal from Strasbourg’s Frederic Guilbert, Ayew’s injury-time strike sealed the victory for the home team.
Ayew, who joined Le Havre as a free agent last year, has been a key player for the club, scoring his fifth goal of the season in the match against Strasbourg. His performance has been crucial in helping Le Havre avoid relegation and climb up the league table.
The Ghanaian forward’s goal-scoring form and leadership on the pitch have been instrumental in Le Havre’s recent success, and fans are hopeful that Ayew can continue to deliver strong performances in the coming matches.
