In a culinary achievement that has garnered national attention, Faila officially ended her attempt on Wednesday, January 10, to break the longest solo cooking record in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Following her attempt at a cookathon, Ghanaian chef Failatu Abdul-Razak stated that she is gradually getting used to her newfound celebrity.

In a culinary achievement that has garnered national attention, Faila officially ended her attempt on Wednesday, January 10, to break the longest solo cooking record in the Guinness Book of World Records.

With a time of 227 hours, she has thus unofficially claimed the title of longest cooking marathon (individual). The current record, which stands at 119 hours and 57 minutes, was set in 2023 by Alan Fisher from Ireland.

Supporters and onlookers flocked to Tamale’s Modern City Hotel, the venue for the marathon, to see this amazing accomplishment.

Her contract originally stated that she would cook from January 1 to January 5, but she was forced to extend it to ten days after Ugandan chef Mama D made a similar 144-hour attempt.

Unafraid of any hardship, Faila called on the media to report good news about the country on Friday, January 19, on the Asaase Breakfast Show.

“Let me tell you something: experience is everything,” she said. I’ve never experienced that life before, so I need to adjust. Since I’m just a regular person like everyone else, I don’t expect to be vilified for my errors.

Faila stated, “I have to adjust to that lifestyle, and it takes a gradual process. Should I have pretended to jump like I was already a celebrity to have known certain things?”

“I am not someone you can bully, but unfortunately, there is a certain type of person who, the moment you are in the spotlight, comes out with all kinds of negativity and vilifies you, forgetting all the good things you have done,” Faila remarked.
