I’m bitter because people I supported betrayed me – Ken Agyapong

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the vocal member of parliament for Assin Central, expressed his displeasure with the treatment he endured during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary in 2023.

In an upcoming interview with KSM on Pan Africa Television, Ken Agyapong acknowledged that Members of Parliament have the right to select the candidate of their choice, but he expressed particular hurt over the “insults” he received from fellow Members, particularly from those he considered close friends and who he had financially supported during their parliamentary campaigns.

“I am not angry with every MP who did not vote for me; everyone has a choice.” However, I assisted in bringing my friends to Parliament. These are the same people.

He made it clear that his resentment was stoked by the betrayal and the insults, not by the vice president’s win.

“My issue is not with their betrayal; rather, it’s with the negative things they said about me. Who says I’m not resentful, then? Not because the vice president prevailed, but rather because of the people I have assisted, I harbor resentment. It’s okay if you decide not to vote for me, but please stop the insults. I’m unable to pardon them.

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong received 71,996 votes, or 37.41%, in the NPP Presidential Primaries. Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who received 118,210 votes, or 61.47%, was declared the winner and will represent the party as its flagbearer.
