Mohammed Amin Adam, the recently appointed Finance Minister, has declared that he will actively pursue income mobilization to fortify the nation’s finances and meet spending goals.
President Akufo-Addo appointed a new Finance Minister to replace Ken Ofori-Atta on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
The Minister disclosed his plan on Thursday in an interview with Citi FM.
To increase the nation’s revenue streams, Mr. Amin Adam reaffirmed his dedication to the current task and his readiness to collaborate closely with the authorities in charge of revenue mobilization.
He understood that to address the financial concerns of the locals and guarantee long-term development, solid financial foundations were essential.
“Revenue collection will be pursued aggressively, So you are going to see me moving around the revenue centers, the ports, the airport, and the market areas to encourage the staff of GRA to collect more revenue but also to institute a friendly approach to collecting revenue.
“We have heard that people are being harassed, all these are going to be streamlined so that you have a friendly approach and also we will get the GRA to introduce a faceless assessment system to ensure that we maximize revenue collection…and to be able to meet our expenditure target.”
Mr. Amin Adam promised to make sure projects are affordable and that the government “holds the line” on spending.
