The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has firmly stated that he will not tolerate LGBTQ activities in Ghana if elected president, regardless of any potential consequences.
During a meeting with religious leaders in Tamale, Dr. Bawumia reiterated his unwavering opposition to LGBTQ activities, emphasizing that such practices go against the core values of the nation and should not be allowed to occur.
Citing the religious and cultural perspectives, he pointed out that both the Bible and the Quran, as well as the beliefs of the Ghanaian people, reject the practices associated with LGBTQ movements. He assured the clergy gathered that he would actively oppose any attempts to normalize or legalize such behaviors if elected to the presidency.
Dr. Bawumia made it clear that under his future presidency, there would be no acceptance or accommodation of LGBTQ activities in Ghana. He emphasized his commitment to upholding traditional values and preserving the moral fabric of Ghanaian society.
In his own words, he stated, “No man will be marrying a man, no woman will be marrying a woman. It is not our value. And I will stand firm no matter the consequences. We will safeguard our country and we will safeguard our people.”
