John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed to aggressively tackle corruption in Ghana if elected as the next President. He highlighted the damaging effects of corruption on the country’s economy and stressed the urgent need for action.
Speaking to the Christian Ecumenical Council, Mahama expressed his commitment to implementing robust measures to combat corruption and restore transparency and accountability in government. He criticized the current administration for being involved in what he described as the most corrupt deals in Ghana’s history, leading to hardship for the Ghanaian people.
Mahama warned that failure to address corruption promptly would further worsen the plight of citizens. He promised to lead a strong and relentless fight against corruption, pledging to restore integrity and efficiency in public service.
The former President called for collective efforts from all stakeholders to support the fight against corruption and expressed confidence that with the right measures and a dedicated government, Ghana can overcome this challenge and achieve sustainable economic growth.
Mahama cited examples of financial malfeasance and non-completion of projects, promising to hold corrupt officials accountable. He assured Ghanaians that his government under his leadership would combat corruption and defeat it.
As the December elections approach, Mahama’s stance on corruption is expected to be a key issue in the campaign. His promises to tackle corruption head-on and restore integrity in public service will likely resonate with voters concerned about the country’s governance.
